Introduction to the ltwa

The Lake Thunderbird Watershed Alliance was formed in 2020 to work collaboratively with residents, communities and other stakeholders to protect the water quality and quantity of Lake Thunderbird. The Lake Thunderbird Watershed Alliance will also serve as a clearinghouse for information about Lake Thunderbird including implementation projects, research and outreach materials.

Lake Thunderbird is important to different people for different reasons. You may fish or camp at the lake, you may drink treated water drawn from Lake Thunderbird, you may be a watershed resident, or you may simply be concerned about natural resources in Oklahoma. This site is a one-stop shop for you to learn about the lake and its watershed.

Interactive Public Input Opportunity!

The Lake Thunderbird Watershed Alliance (LTWA) is seeking input as they work to develop an integrated watershed management plan for Lake Thunderbird. Your input is vital to helping LTWA make informed decisions.

What is a watershed?

A watershed is an area of land that drains to a common point. When rain falls on an area of land, water that does not soak into the soil or evaporate into the air flows downhill. We often call this water “runoff” or stormwater.
